Yazid told us, Musa told us, he said: I heard my father say: Abu Qais, the freed slave of Amr ibn al-As, told me that Amr ibn al-As used to fast continuously, and he would rarely eat in the evening at the start of the night; most of what he ate was at the pre-dawn meal (suhur). He said: And I heard him say: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say, "The difference between our fasting and the fasting of the People of the Book is the pre-dawn meal."
