Haywah ibn Shurayh told us: Baqiyyah told us: Muhammad ibn Ziyad told us — or someone who heard it told me — saying: Yazid ibn Zayd al-Jawzajani told me, saying: I set out toward the mosque, and Utbah ibn Abd al-Mazini met me and said to me, 'Where are you headed?' I said, 'To the mosque.' He said, 'Rejoice, for I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, say: There is no servant who goes out of his house in the morning or the evening to the mosque, except that each of his steps is an expiation and each step raises him a degree.'
