Ya'la ibn Ubayd told us, Isma'il told us, from Qays, from Dukayn ibn Sa'id al-Muzani, who said: We came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forty riders and four hundred, asking him for food. He said to Umar, "Go and give it to them." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, nothing remains except a few sa's of dates; I do not think it will sustain me through the summer." He said, "Go and give it to them." He said, "Hearing and obedience." He said: so Umar took the key out from his waist-wrapper and opened the door, and there was something resembling a crouching young camel, made of dates. So he said, "Take," and every man of us took what he liked. Then I looked back, and I was among the last of the people, and it was as if we had not diminished it by a single date. Waki' told us, Isma'il told us, from Qays, from Dukayn ibn Sa'id al-Khath'ami, who said: We came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, four hundred and forty of us — and he related the hadith. Muhammad ibn Ubayd told us, Isma'il told us, from Qays, from Dukayn ibn Sa'id, who said: We came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him — and he related the hadith. Ya'la and Muhammad, the two sons of Ubayd, told us, they said: Isma'il told us, from Qays, from Dukayn ibn Sa'id al-Muzani, who said: We came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him — and he related the hadith.
