Hammad ibn Khalid told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told us, from Bahir ibn Sa'd, from Khalid ibn Ma'dan, from Kathir ibn Murrah, from Uqbah ibn Amir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: One who recites the Qur'an aloud is like one who gives charity openly, and one who recites the Qur'an quietly is like one who gives charity secretly.
