حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَّامٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَزْرَقِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُدْخِلُ الثَّلَاثَةَ بِالسَّهْمِ الْوَاحِدِ الْجَنَّةَ صَانِعَهُ يَحْتَسِبُ فِي صَنْعَتِهِ الْخَيْرَ وَالْمُمِدَّ بِهِ وَالرَّامِيَ بِهِ وَقَالَ ارْمُوا وَارْكَبُوا وَأَنْ تَرْمُوا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَرْكَبُوا وَإِنَّ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ يَلْهُو بِهِ الرَّجُلُ بَاطِلٌ إِلَّا رَمْيَةَ الرَّجُلِ بِقَوْسِهِ وَتَأْدِيبَهُ فَرَسَهُ وَمُلَاعَبَتَهُ امْرَأَتَهُ فَإِنَّهُنَّ مِنْ الْحَقِّ وَمَنْ نَسِيَ الرَّمْيَ بَعْدَمَا عُلِّمَهُ فَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِي عُلِّمَهُ.

Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, who said: Abu Sallam narrated to us, from 'Abdullah al-Azraq, from 'Uqbah ibn 'Amir al-Juhani, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Allah, Mighty and Sublime, admits three people to Paradise by means of a single arrow: its maker, who intends good by making it; the one who supplies it; and the one who shoots it." And he said, "Shoot and ride, and that you shoot is more beloved to me than that you ride. Everything with which a man amuses himself is vain except a man's shooting with his bow, his training of his horse, and his playing with his wife, for these are among the truth. And whoever forgets archery after having learned it has thereby denied a favor granted to him."
