Abu Ja'far, who is Muhammad ibn Ja'far al-Mada'ini, told us: Abbad ibn al-Awwam informed me, from Sufyan ibn al-Husayn, from Khalid ibn Zayd, from al-Irbad ibn Sariyah, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: When a man gives his wife water to drink, he is rewarded for it. He said: So I went to her and gave her water to drink, and told her what I had heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
