Abd al-Razzaq told us, saying: Ma'mar told us, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, from Amr ibn Abasah, who said: A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is Islam?" He said: "That your heart submit to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and that the Muslims be safe from your tongue and your hand." He said: "Which Islam is most excellent?" He said: "Faith (iman)." He said: "And what is faith?" He said: "That you believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the resurrection after death." He said: "Which faith is most excellent?" He said: "Emigration (hijrah)." He said: "And what is emigration?" He said: "That you forsake evil." He said: "Which emigration is most excellent?" He said: "Jihad." He said: "And what is jihad?" He said: "That you fight the disbelievers when you meet them." He said: "Which jihad is most excellent?" He said: "One whose horse is slain and whose blood is shed." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Then there are two deeds, both of which are among the most excellent deeds, that none can match except one who performs their like: an accepted Hajj or an Umrah."
