He said: Bahz ibn Asad narrated to us, who said: 'Ikrimah ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, who said: Iyas ibn Salamah ibn al-Akwa' narrated to us, from his father, who said: We went on campaign with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, against Hawazin and Ghatafan. While we were thus, a man came on a red camel and pulled something from the camel's saddle-girth and tied the camel with it. Then he came walking and sat with us eating lunch. He looked at the people and saw that their mounts were few and most were on foot. When he saw the people's condition, he went out running. He said: He came to his camel and mounted it. He said: He rode off at a gallop, being a scout for the disbelievers. A man of ours from Aslam followed him on a gray she-camel of his. Iyas said: My father said: I followed him, running on my own feet. He said: And the she-camel's head was at the flank of the camel. He said: I caught up with him, so I was at the flank of the she-camel, then advanced until I was at the flank of the camel, then advanced until I took hold of the camel's nose-rein and said to it, "Ikh." When the camel put its knee to the ground, I drew my sword and struck his head, and it flew off. Then I came, leading his mount. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, met me along with the people and said: "Who killed this man?" They said: "Ibn al-Akwa'." So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "His spoils are entirely his."
