قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ أَبِي حَسَنٍ الْمَازِنِيُّ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى مُنْذُ أَرْبَعٍ وَسَبْعِينَ سَنَةً وَسَأَلْتُهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِقَلِيلٍ وَكَانَ يَحْيَى أَكْبَرَ مِنْهُ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ سَمِعْتُ مِنْهُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَحَادِيثَ فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَوَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ قَالَ أَبِي سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ سُفْيَانَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ يَقُولُ غَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ مَرَّةً وَقَالَ مَرَّتَيْنِ مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ.

He said: Sufyan narrated to us, who said: 'Amr ibn Yahya ibn 'Umarah ibn Abi Hasan al-Mazini al-Ansari narrated to us, from his father, from 'Abdullah ibn Zayd, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, performed ablution. Sufyan said: Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us from 'Amr ibn Yahya seventy-four years ago, and I asked him about it again shortly after that, and Yahya was older than him. Sufyan said: I heard three hadiths from him: he washed his hands twice, his face three times, and wiped his head twice. My father said: I heard Sufyan say three times that he washed his feet twice, and once he said he wiped his head once, and twice he said he wiped his head twice.
