Al-Hajjaj ibn Muhammad and Hashim ibn al-Qasim told us, both saying: Layth, meaning Ibn Sa'd, told us: Bukayr, meaning Ibn Abdullah ibn al-Ashajj, told me, from Busr ibn Sa'id, from Zayd ibn Khalid, from Abu Talha, companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The angels do not enter a house in which there is an image." Busr said: Then he fell ill, so we visited him, and there was a curtain over his door with an image on it. I said to Ubaydullah al-Khawlani, stepson of Maymuna, wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Did he not tell us and mention images the first day?" Ubaydullah said: "Did you not hear him say: 'except a pattern on a garment'?" Hashim said: "Did not Zayd tell us about images the first day?" Ubaydullah said: "Did you not hear him when he said: 'except a pattern on a garment'?" And likewise Yunus said.
