Mu'awiyah ibn Amr narrated to us: Za'idah narrated to us from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to a man: What do you say in prayer? He said: I recite the testimony of faith, then I say: O God, I ask You for Paradise and seek refuge with You from the Fire - but I do not know how to do your murmuring, nor the murmuring of Mu'adh. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: It is around that [Paradise and the Fire] that we murmur.
