Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us from Asim al-Ahwal, from al-Sha'bi, from Muhammad ibn Safwan, that he hunted two hares but could not find an iron [blade] to slaughter them with, so he slaughtered them with a flint stone. He came to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, and he ordered him to eat them. Yazid narrated to us: Dawud - meaning Ibn Abi Hind - informed us from Amir, from Muhammad ibn Safwan, that he passed by the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, with two hares hanging, and he mentioned something similar.
