Affan told us, Wuhayb told us: Musa ibn Uqbah told me, he said: I heard Abu Salamah narrating — and I do not know it except from Nafi ibn Abd al-Harith — that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, entered one of the walled gardens of Medina and sat on the rim of a well. Then Abu Bakr came seeking permission [to enter], and he said, "Let him in, and give him glad tidings of Paradise." Then Umar came seeking permission, and he said, "Let him in, and give him glad tidings of Paradise." Then Uthman came seeking permission, and he said, "Let him in, and give him glad tidings of Paradise, though he will meet with a trial."
