حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ غِلَظُ الْقُلُوبِ وَالْجَفَاءُ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْإِيمَانُ وَالسَّكِينَةُ فِي أَهْلِ الْحِجَازِ.

Musa ibn Dawud told us: Ibn Lahi'ah informed us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say, "Hardness of heart and coarseness are toward the east, while faith and tranquility are among the people of the Hijaz."
