Hajjaj told us, Layth told us, Uqayl told us, from Ibn Shihab, he said: I heard Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman say: Jabir ibn Abdullah informed me that he heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Then the revelation ceased from me for a while. While I was walking, I heard a voice from the sky, so I raised my eyes toward the sky, and there was the angel who had come to me at Hira, now sitting on a throne between heaven and earth. I was overcome with terror because of him, until I fell to the ground. I came to my family and said, 'Wrap me up! Wrap me up! Wrap me up!' So they wrapped me up. Then God, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: {O you who are wrapped in your cloak! Arise and warn! And your Lord, magnify! And your garments, purify! And uncleanliness, avoid!}" Abu Salamah said: "Uncleanliness" means the idols. Then the revelation grew intense afterward and became continuous.
