حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي النَّضْرُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ وَأَنَسٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ حَيٌّ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ الْمَوْتَ لَتَمَنَّيْتُهُ.

Affan told us: Abd al-Wahid told us: Asim al-Ahwal told us, he said: al-Nadr ibn Anas told me - while Anas was still alive at that time - he said: "Were it not that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said 'Let none of you wish for death,' I would have wished for it."
