'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, who said: Thabit informed us, from Anas: that a man used to write for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and when he dictated to him "All-Hearing," he would say, "I have written 'All-Hearing, All-Seeing,'" and he would say, "Leave it." And when he dictated to him "All-Knowing, All-Wise," he wrote "All-Knowing, All-Forbearing." Hammad said something similar. He said: This man had memorized al-Baqarah and Al 'Imran, and whoever had recited these two had recited a great deal of the Qur'an. He then went and became a Christian, saying, "I used to write for Muhammad whatever I wished, and he would say, 'Leave it.'" Then he died and was buried, but the earth cast him out twice or three times. Abu Talhah said, "I indeed saw him cast out above the ground."
