Yunus told us, Hammad - meaning Ibn Zayd - told us, from Thabit, that Anas was asked about the dyeing of the Prophet’s hair, peace and blessings be upon him. He said: "The gray hair of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, did not reach an amount that he would dye, and if I wished to count the gray hairs that were in his beard I could do so, but Abu Bakr used to dye with henna and katam, and ‘Umar used to dye with henna."
