حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ كَانُوا يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ قِرَاءَتَهُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ بِ { الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ }.

Mu'adh told us, Sa'id ibn Abi Arubah told us, from Qatadah, from Anas, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman used to begin their recitation in prayer with: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
