'Abd al-A'la told us: Sa'id told us, from Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik, that Umm Sulaym asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him — she said, "Does a woman see in her dream what a man sees?" The Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "If she sees what a man sees" — meaning the fluid — "then let her perform the ritual bath." Umm Salamah said, "Can that happen?" The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Yes. The man's fluid is thick and white, and the woman's fluid is thin and yellow; whichever of the two precedes or predominates determines the resemblance." Sa'id said, "We are unsure whether the resemblance was mentioned."
