حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ وَحَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسٌ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وُلِدَ لِي اللَّيْلَةَ غُلَامٌ فَسَمَّيْتُهُ بِاسْمِ أَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ ثُمَّ دَفَعَهُ إِلَى أُمِّ سَيْفٍ امْرَأَةِ قَيْنٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو سَيْفٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ فَانْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْتِيهِ وَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى أَبِي سَيْفٍ وَهُوَ يَنْفُخُ بِكِيرِهِ وَقَدْ امْتَلَأَ الْبَيْتُ دُخَانًا قَالَ فَأَسْرَعْتُ الْمَشْيَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا سَيْفٍ جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَأَمْسَكَ قَالَ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَعَا بِالصَّبِيِّ فَضَمَّهُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ أَنَسٌ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَكِيدُ بِنَفْسِهِ قَالَ فَدَمَعَتْ عَيْنَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَدْمَعُ الْعَيْنُ وَيَحْزَنُ الْقَلْبُ وَلَا نَقُولُ إِلَّا مَا يُرْضِي رَبَّنَا عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَاللَّهِ إِنَّا بِكَ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ لَمَحْزُونُونَ.

Bahz and Affan told us, they said: Sulayman told us — and Hashim told us: Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah informed us; Affan said: Thabit told us: Anas told us, he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "A boy was born to me tonight, and I named him after my father, Ibrahim." He said: Then he entrusted him to Umm Sayf, the wife of a blacksmith called Abu Sayf, in Medina. He said: So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, set out to visit him, and I went along with him. We reached Abu Sayf while he was blowing on his bellows and the house was filled with smoke. He said: I hurried ahead of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, "O Abu Sayf, the Messenger of Allah has come!" He said: So he held back. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came and asked for the child and held him close. Anas said: I saw him before the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, as he was in the throes of death, and the eyes of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, shed tears. He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "The eye sheds tears and the heart grieves, but we say nothing except what pleases our Lord, Mighty and Majestic. Indeed, O Ibrahim, we are grieved by your parting."
