حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْحَمُ أُمَّتِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَأَشَدُّهَا فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ عُمَرُ وَأَصْدَقُهَا حَيَاءً عُثْمَانُ وَأَعْلَمُهَا بِالْحَلَالِ وَالْحَرَامِ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ وَأَقْرَؤُهَا لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ أُبَيٌّ وَأَعْلَمُهَا بِالْفَرَائِضِ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَمِينٌ وَأَمِينُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ.

Waki' told us, from Sufyan, from Khalid al-Hadhdha', from Abu Qilabah, from Anas, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "The most merciful of my community towards others is Abu Bakr; the strongest of them in the religion of God is Umar; the most truthful of them in modesty is Uthman; the most knowledgeable of them in what is lawful and unlawful is Mu'adh ibn Jabal; the best reciter of them of the Book of God is Ubayy; the most knowledgeable of them in the laws of inheritance is Zayd ibn Thabit; and every community has a trustworthy one, and the trustworthy one of this community is Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah."
