Abd al-Malik ibn Amr narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, from Zayd, from Ata' ibn Yasar, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: My family sent me to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to ask him for food. I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was delivering a sermon, and I heard him say: "Whoever is patient, Allah will grant him patience; whoever seeks independence, Allah will make him independent; whoever refrains from asking, Allah will make him self-restrained; and no one has been given a provision more abundant for him than patience."
