Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:1007 حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ قَالَ §تُوُفِّيَ بِلَالٌ مَوْلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَيُقَالُ إِنَّهُ تِرْبُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ؓ بِدِمَشْقَ فِي الطَّاعُونِ وَدُفِنَ عِنْدَ بَابِ الصَّغِيرِ وَيُكَنَّى أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ فِي سَنَةِ سَبْعٍ أَوْ ثَمَانَ عَشْرَةَ وَهُوَ مِنْ مُوَلَّدِي السَّرَاةِ وَيُقَالُ بِلَالٌ يُكَنَّى أَبَا عَمْرٍو
English Translation
[Biographical note: Bilal, the freed slave of Abu Bakr — it is said he was the same age as Abu Bakr — died in Damascus during the plague and was buried at Bab al-Saghir. He was known as Abu 'Abdullah. He died in the year seventeen or eighteen (AH). He was born in al-Sarah. It is also said Bilal's kunya was Abu 'Amr.]
