English Translation
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: While we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) among a group of his companions, he said: 'Let a man among you stand with me, and let no man stand with me who has in his heart even an atom's weight of deceit.' So I stood with him and took the water skin, thinking it was only water. I went with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) until we reached the upper part of Makkah, where I saw dark figures gathered. He drew a line around me and said: 'Stand here until I come to you.' So I stood, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went to them, and I saw them surging toward him. The Messenger of Allah conversed for a long night until he came to me at dawn and said: 'Are you still standing, O Ibn Mas'ud?' I said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, did you not tell me to stand until you came to me?' Then he said: 'Do you have water?' I said: 'Yes.' When I opened the water skin, it was nabidh. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, by Allah I took it thinking it was only water, but it turned out to be nabidh.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'A wholesome date and purifying water.' Then he performed ablution from it. When he stood to pray, two figures from the jinn came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we would like you to lead us in prayer.' He lined them up behind him and prayed with us. When he finished, I asked him: 'Who were they, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'These are the jinn of Nasibin. They asked me for provisions, so I gave them that every dung they find becomes barley and every bone they find becomes covered with flesh.' Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade cleaning oneself with bones or dung.
