Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:9812 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الصُّدَائِيُّ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ أَيُّ الْأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ؟ فَقَالَ سَأَلْتَنِي عَمَّا سَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الصَّلَاةُ لِوَقْتِهَا وَبِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ» وَلَوِ اسْتَزَدْتُهُ لَزَادَنِي
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abi Khaythamah narrated to us, from al-Husayn ibn Ali ibn Yazid al-Suda'i, from Hammad ibn al-Walid, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid, from Abu Amr al-Shaybani who said: A man came to Abdullah ibn Mas'ud and said: 'Which deeds are best?' He said: 'You have asked me about what I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He said: Prayer at its time, dutifulness to parents, and jihad in the cause of Allah.' And had I asked him for more, he would have given me more.
