Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:9795 حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلْمٍ الرَّازِيُّ وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ قَالَا ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ثنا جُنَادَةُ بْنُ سَلْمٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا تَخَوَّفَ أَحَدُكُمُ السُّلْطَانَ فَلْيَقُلِ اللهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ كُنْ لِي جَارًا مِنْ شَرِّ فُلَانِ بْنِ فُلَانٍ يَعْنِي الَّذِي يُرِيدُ وَشَرِّ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ وَأَتْبَاعِهِمْ أَنْ يَفْرُطَ عَلَيَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ عَزَّ جَارُكَ وَجَلَّ ثَنَاؤُكَ وَلَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ
English Translation
Abd al-Rahman ibn Salm al-Razi and al-Husayn ibn Ishaq al-Tustari narrated to us, from Sahl ibn Uthman, from Junadah ibn Salm, from Ubaydullah ibn Umar, from Utbah ibn Abdullah ibn Utbah ibn Mas'ud, from his father, from his grandfather, from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, from the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said: 'When one of you fears the ruler, let him say: O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Magnificent Throne, be my protector from the evil of so-and-so son of so-and-so - meaning the one he fears - and from the evil of the jinn and mankind and their followers, lest any of them transgress against me. Your protection is mighty, Your praise is exalted, and there is no god other than You.'
