Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:9331 حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ وَالثَّوْرِيِّ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ قَالَ مَرَّ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ عَلَى رَجُلٍ سَاجِدٍ وَرَأْسُهُ مَعْقُوصٌ فَحَلَّهُ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ «لَا تَعْقِصْ فَإِنَّ شَعْرَكَ يَسْجُدُ وَإِنَّ لَكَ بِكُلِّ شَعْرَةٍ أَجْرًا» قَالَ إِنَّمَا عَقَصْتُهُ لِكَيْ لَا يَتَتَرَّبَ قَالَ «إِنْ يَتَتَرَّبْ خَيْرٌ لَكَ»
English Translation
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud passed by a man who was prostrating with his hair tied up. He undid it, and when the man finished praying, Abdullah said: 'Do not tie up your hair, for your hair prostrates (with you), and you will have a reward for every hair.' The man said: 'I only tied it so it would not get dusty.' He said: 'For it to get dusty is better for you.'
