Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:9092 حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرِّ قَالَ كُنْتُ آخَذُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُصْحَفَ فَأُتِيَ عَلَى هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ {وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُمْ بَنِينَ وَحَفَدَةً} فَقَالَ لِي عَبْدُ اللهِ «أَتَدْرِي مَا الْحَفَدَةُ؟» قُلْتُ حَشَمُ الرَّجُلِ قَالَ «لَا هُمُ الْأَخْتَانُ»
English Translation
Zirr said: I was reviewing the Mushaf with Abdullah and he came upon this verse: 'And He has made for you from your wives sons and grandsons (hafadah).' Abdullah said to me: "Do you know what al-hafadah means?" I said: 'The servants of a man.' He said: "No, they are the sons-in-law (al-akhtan)."
