English Translation
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud used to narrate in the mosque every day, and on Thursday the people of the rural areas and villages would come to him. A blind man came and said: 'O Abu Abd al-Rahman, what is al-Awwah?' He said: 'The merciful.' He asked: 'What is squandering (tabdhir)?' He said: 'Spending in what is not right.' He asked: 'What is al-Ma'un?' He said: 'What people lend to one another, meaning borrowed items.'
