English Translation
Murrah al-Hamdani said: I resolved to pray behind every pillar in the mosque of Kufa. While I was praying, Ibn Mas'ud came to the mosque. I went to tell him about my plan, but a man beat me to it and told him what I was doing. Ibn Mas'ud said: 'If this man knew that Allah the Almighty is at the nearest pillar, he would not have passed it until he finished his prayer.'
