Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8921 حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ «إِذَا حَضَرَكَ أَمْرٌ لَا بُدَّ مِنْهُ فَانْظُرْ مَا فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ فَاقْضِ بِهِ فَإِنْ عَيِيتَ فَمَا قَضَى بِهِ الرَّسُولُ ﷺ فَإِنْ عَيِيتَ فَمَا قَضَى بِهِ الصَّالِحُونَ فَإِنْ عَيِيتَ فَاؤُمَّ وَلَا تَأْلُ فَإِنْ عَيِيتَ فَأَقِرَّ وَلَا تَسْتَحِ»
English Translation
Abdullah said: 'When a matter comes before you that you must address, look at what is in the Book of Allah and judge by it. If you are unable, then look at what the Messenger, peace be upon him, judged. If you are unable, then look at what the righteous judged. If you are unable, then exercise your judgment and do not fall short. If you are unable, then admit it and do not be ashamed.'
