English Translation
Abdullah said: 'If the knowledge of Umar were placed in one pan of a scale and the knowledge of the people of the earth in the other, his knowledge would outweigh theirs.' Waki' said: Al-A'mash said: I found this strange, so I went to Ibrahim and mentioned it to him. He said: 'What do you find strange about it? By Allah, Abdullah said something even greater: I consider that nine-tenths of knowledge departed the day Umar departed, may Allah be pleased with him.'
