Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8768 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ «أَنْتُمْ أَكْثَرُ صَلَاةً وَأَكْثَرُ جِهَادًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ وَهُمْ كَانُوا خَيْرًا مِنْكُمْ» قَالُوا بِمَ ذَاكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا أَزْهَدَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَأَرْغَبَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ»
English Translation
'Abdullah said: "You pray more and strive more in jihad than the Companions of Muhammad (peace be upon him), yet they were better than you." They asked: "Why is that, O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman?" He said: "Because they were more renouncing of this world and more desirous of the Hereafter."
