Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8628 حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزَّعْرَاءِ قَالَ جَاءَ الْمُسَيِّبُ بْنُ نَجَبَةَ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي تَرَكْتُ قَوْمًا بِالْمَسْجِدِ يَقُولُونَ مَنْ سَبَّحَ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَلَهُ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ قُمْ يَا عَلْقَمَةُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُمْ قَالَ يَا عَلْقَمَةُ اشْغَلْ عَنِّي أَبْصَارَ الْقَوْمِ فَلَمَّا سَمِعَهُمْ وَمَا يَقُولُونَ قَالَ «إِنَّكُمْ لَمُتَمَسِّكُونَ بِذَنَبِ ضَلَالَةٍ أَوَ إِنَّكُمْ لَأَهْدَى مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ»
English Translation
Al-Musayyib ibn Najabah came to 'Abdullah and said: "I left people in the mosque saying: 'Whoever glorifies Allah such-and-such times will have such-and-such reward.'" 'Abdullah said: "Get up, O 'Alqamah." When he saw them, he said: "O 'Alqamah, distract the people's eyes from me." When he was close enough, he said: "Are you more guided than Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his Companions? You have introduced an innovation of misguidance."
