English Translation
While Ibn Mas'ud was reciting in the mosque, the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by while he was supplicating — the Prophet (peace be upon him), Abu Bakr, and 'Umar had come out — and when he was alongside him, hearing his supplication though not recognizing him, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Ask and you shall be given." Abu Bakr returned to Ibn Mas'ud and asked: "What was the supplication you were making?" He said: "I praised Allah and glorified Him, then I said: 'O Allah, there is no god but You. Your promise is true, and meeting You is true, and Paradise is true, and the Fire is true, and Your messengers are true, and the prophets are true, and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is true.'"
