Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8330 حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى شِيرَانُ الرَّامَهُرْمُزِيُّ ثنا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي خَلْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ الْعَاصِ فِي أَيَّامِ الْعَشْرِ وَكَانَ لَهُ بَيْتٌ قَدْ أَخْلَاهُ لِلْحَدِيثِ فَمُرَّ عَلَيْهِ بِكَبْشٍ فَقَالَ لِصَاحِبِهِ بِكَمْ أَخَذْتَهُ؟ قَالَ بِاثْنَيْ عَشَرَ دِرْهَمًا فَقُلْتُ لَوْ كَانَتْ مَعِي اثْنَا عَشَرَ دِرْهَمًا اشْتَرَيْتُ بِهَا كَبْشًا فَضَحَّيْتُ بِهِ وَأَطْعَمْتُ عِيَالِي فَلَمَّا قُمْتُ اتَّبَعَنِي رَسُولُ عُثْمَانَ بِصُرَّةٍ فِيهَا خَمْسُونَ دِرْهَمًا فَمَا رَأَيْتُ دَرَاهِمَ قَطُّ كَانَتْ أَعْظَمَ بَرَكَةً مِنْهَا أَعْطَانِي وَهُوَ لَهَا مُحْتَسِبٌ وَأَنَا إِلَيْهَا مُحْتَاجٌ
English Translation
Abu Nadra said: I came to Uthman ibn al-As during the days of the ten, and he had a room he had cleared for hadith (narration). A ram was brought past him, and he asked his servant: 'How much did you get it for?' He said: 'Twelve dirhams.' I said: 'If I had twelve dirhams, I would buy a ram and sacrifice it and feed my family.' When I stood to leave, a messenger from Uthman followed me with a purse containing fifty dirhams. I never saw dirhams of greater blessing — he gave them while seeking reward from Allah, and I was in need of them.
