English Translation
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Dimam ibn Tha'labah came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said: "Shall I not recite a protective incantation over you, O Muhammad?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Praise be to Allah, we praise Him and seek His help and seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our souls and the evil of our deeds. Whoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whoever He misguides, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger." Dimam said: "I have read the scriptures - the Torah, the Gospel, and the Psalms - but I have never heard the like of these words. Repeat them for me." He repeated them. Then he said: "Repeat them for me." He repeated them. Then it was mentioned that he accepted Islam.
