Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8099 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدُوسِ بْنِ كَامِلِ السِّرَاجِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ثنا أَبِي ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي غَالِبٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى بَاهِلَةَ فَأَتَيْتُ وَهُمْ عَلَى الطَّعَامِ فَرَحَّبُوا بِي وَأَكْرَمُونِي وَقَالُوا تَعَالَ فَكُلْ فَقُلْتُ جِئْتُ لِأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ هَذَا الطَّعَامِ وَأَنَا رَسُولُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَتَيْتُكُمْ لِتُؤْمِنُوا بِهِ فَكَذَّبُونِي وَزَبَرُونِي فَانْطَلَقْتُ وَأَنَا جَائِعٌ ظَمْآنُ قَدْ نَزَلَ بِي جَهْدٌ شَدِيدٌ فَنِمْتُ فَأُتِيتُ فِي مَنَامِي بِشَرْبَةٍ مِنْ لَبَنٍ فَشَرِبْتُ وَرَوَيْتُ وَعَظُمَ بَطْنِي فَقَالَ الْقَوْمُ أَتَاكُمْ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خِيَارِكُمْ وَأَشْرَافِكُمْ فَرَدَدْتُمُوهُ فَاذْهَبُوا إِلَيْهِ فَأَطْعِمُوهُ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ وَالشَّرَابِ مَا يَشْتَهِي فَأَتَوْنِي بِطَعَامٍ قُلْتُ «لَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِي طَعَامِكُمْ وَشَرَابِكُمْ فَإِنَّ اللهَ قَدْ أَطْعَمَنِي وَسَقَانِي» فانظروا إِلَى الْحَالِ الَّتِي أَنَا عَلَيْهَا فَنَظَرُوا فَآمَنُوا بِي وَبِمَا جِئْتُ بِهِ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ
English Translation
Abu Umamah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent me to [the tribe of] Bahilah. I came to them while they were eating, and they welcomed me and honored me and said: "Come and eat." I said: "I have come to forbid you from this food. I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him); I have come to you so that you believe in him." They rejected me and drove me away. I went away hungry and thirsty, in severe hardship. I fell asleep, and I was brought in my sleep a drink of milk. I drank and was quenched, and my stomach grew full. The people said: "A man from the best and noblest among you has come and you sent him away. Go to him and feed him whatever food and drink he desires." They came to me with food. I said: "I have no need of your food and drink, for Allah has fed me and given me drink. Look at the state I am in." They looked and believed in me and in what I brought from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).
