Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:7940 حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الشِّيرَازِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «خَلَقَ اللهُ الْخَلْقَ وَقَضَى الْقَضِيَّةَ وَأَخَذَ مِيثَاقَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَعَرْشُهُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ فَأَهَلُ الْجَنَّةِ أَهْلُهَا وَأَهْلُ النَّارِ أَهْلُهَا» قَالُوا يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ فِيمَ الْأَعْمَالُ؟ قَالَ «يَعْمَلُ كُلُّ قَوْمٍ لِمَنْزِلَتِهِمْ» فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِذ��ا نَجْتَهِدُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ
English Translation
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Allah created the creation, decreed the decree, and took the covenant of the prophets while His Throne was upon water. The people of Paradise are its people, and the people of the Fire are its people." They said: "O Prophet of Allah, then what is the purpose of deeds?" He said: "Every people work according to their station." 'Umar ibn al-Khattab said: "Then we shall strive, O Messenger of Allah."
