English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I entered Paradise and heard a footstep ahead of me. I asked: 'Who is this, O Jibril?' He said: 'This is Bilal, the mu'adhin.' I looked, and the majority of the people of Paradise were the weak and the poor, and the fewest people of Paradise were the wealthy and women. I asked: 'What is this, O Jibril?' He said: 'The wealthy are held at the gate of Paradise being held accountable and scrutinized. As for the women, the two red things distracted them - gold and silk.' Then I went out to the eight gates of Paradise, and there was the Scale. One pan was taken and all of my Ummah was placed in it, and I was placed in the other pan, and I outweighed them. Then my Ummah was presented to me man by man, and I waited long for 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf. When he came, I said: 'What delayed you?' He wept to me and I wept to him. He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I was there behind the gate being held accountable and scrutinized until I thought I would never see you and you would never see me.'"
