Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:7909 حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ زَبْرِيقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ الْحِمْصِيُّ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّائِبِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ لَحِقَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فِي حُلَّةٍ إِزَارٍ وَرِدَاءٍ قَدْ أَسْبَلَ فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَأْخُذُ بِنَاحِيَةِ ثَوْبِهِ وَيَتَوَاضَعُ لِلَّهِ وَيَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ» حَتَّى سَمِعَهَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَحْمَسُ السَّاقَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا عَمْرَو بْنَ زُرَارَةَ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ قَدْ أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ خَلْقِهِ يَا عَمْرَو بْنَ زُرَارَةَ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْبِلِينَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِكَفِّهِ تَحْتَ رُكْبَةِ نَفْسِهِ فَقَالَ «يَا عَمْرَو بْنَ زُرَارَةَ هَذَا مَوْضِعُ الْإِزَارِ» ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا ثُمَّ وَضَعَهَا تَحْتَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «يَا عَمْرَو بْنَ زُرَارَةَ هَذَا مَوْضِعُ الْإِزَارِ» ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا ثُمَّ وَضَعَهَا تَحْتَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «يَا عَمْرَو بْنَ زُرَارَةَ هَذَا مَوْضِعُ الْإِزَارِ»
English Translation
Abu Umamah said: While we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), 'Amr ibn Zurarah al-Ansari caught up with us wearing a fine garment - an izar and rida' - which he had let trail. The Prophet (peace be upon him) began taking hold of the edge of his garment and humbling himself before Allah, saying: "O Allah, Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your handmaid." 'Amr heard this and turned to the Prophet and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have thin shins." The Messenger of Allah said: "O 'Amr ibn Zurarah, Allah has made everything He created well. O 'Amr ibn Zurarah, Allah does not love those who let their garments trail." Then the Messenger of Allah placed his palm below his own knee and said: "O 'Amr ibn Zurarah, this is the place of the izar." Then he raised it and placed it below that and said: "O 'Amr ibn Zurarah, this is the place of the izar." Then he raised it and placed it below that and said: "O 'Amr ibn Zurarah, this is the place of the izar."
