Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:7731 حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادِ بْنِ زَبَّارٍ الْكَلْبِيُّ ثنا شَرْقِيُّ بْنُ الْقِطَامِيُّ عَنْ لُقْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ جِئْتُ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيَّ فَقُلْتُ حَدِّثْنَا مَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْ أَنَّ صَخْرَةً وَزَنَتْ عَشْرَ خَلِفَاتٍ قُذِفَ بِهَا مِنْ شَفِيرِ جَهَنَّمَ مَا بَلَغَتْ قَعْرَهَا سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا حَتَّى يَنْتَهِيَ إِلَى غَيٍّ وَأَثَامٍ» قِيلَ وَمَا غَيٌّ وَأَثَامٌ؟ قَالَ «بِئْرَانِ فِي أَسْفَلِ جَهَنَّمَ يَسِيلُ مِنْهُمْا صَدِيدُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَهُمْا اللَّذَانِ ذَكَرَهُمَا اللهُ فِي كِتَابِهِ» {أَضَاعُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَاتَّبَعُوا الشَّهَوَاتِ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّا} {وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ يَلْقَ أَثَامًا}
English Translation
Abu Umamah reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, 'If a rock weighing as much as ten pregnant she-camels were thrown from the edge of Hellfire, it would not reach its bottom for seventy autumns, until it reaches Ghayy and Atham.' It was asked, 'What are Ghayy and Atham?' He said, 'Two wells at the bottom of Hellfire from which the pus of the people of the Fire flows. They are the two which Allah mentioned in His Book: {They neglected prayer and followed desires, so they will meet Ghayy} and {Whoever does that will meet Atham.}'
