English Translation
Sabrah ibn Ma'bad al-Juhani narrated: "When we were with the Prophet (peace be upon him) passing by al-Hijr (the land of Thamud), the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to us: 'Do not ask your Prophet for signs, for the people of Salih asked their Prophet for a sign, and the she-camel used to come from this mountain pass and go out from this mountain pass. She would drink their water one day, and they would drink her milk the next day. Then they hamstrung her, and it was one of Allah's promises to them. He said: "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days." And none of the promises of Allah are false. Then the cry came upon them, and Allah destroyed all of them under the horizons of the sky except a man who was in the Sacred Precinct of Allah.' They said: 'Who was he, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'He was Abu Righal. When he left the Sacred Precinct, what befell his people befell him.'"
