English Translation
Salamah ibn al-Akwa' said: "We went out with the Prophet (peace be upon him) on an expedition, and we faced hardship. We had no provisions. The people came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) asking permission to slaughter their riding camels. The Prophet (peace be upon him) permitted them. Then 'Umar met them and they told him, so he went to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, slaughter and then what — walk? Let the people bring what remains of their provisions.' So the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered a leather mat to be spread and the people brought their provisions, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) supplicated for blessings over it."
