Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:6070 حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْكِنَانِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ ؓ أَنَّهُ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمَائِدَةٍ عَلَيْهَا رُطَبٌ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذِهِ؟» قَالَ هَذِهِ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أَصْحَابِكَ فَقَالَ «يَا سَلْمَانُ إِنَّا لَا نَأْكُلُ الصَّدَقَةَ» فَذَهَبَ بِهَا سَلْمَانُ فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ جَاءَهُ سَلْمَانُ بِمَائِدَةٍ عَلَيْهَا رُطَبٌ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذِهِ الْمَائِدَةُ؟» قَالَ هَذِهِ هَدِيَّةٌ فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ «ادْنُوَا فَكُلُوا» فَأَكَلَ
English Translation
Salman brought a tray of fresh dates to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He said: "What is this?" Salman said: "This is charity for you and your companions." The Prophet said: "O Salman, we do not eat charity." So Salman took it away. The next day, Salman brought him another tray of fresh dates. He said: "What is this tray?" Salman said: "This is a gift." So the Prophet told his companions: "Come close and eat," and he ate.
