English Translation
Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi said: A man from the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) died, and the Companions began praising him and mentioning his worship while the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) remained silent. When they finished, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Did he used to frequently remember death?" They said: "No." He said: "Did he used to refrain from many of the things he desired?" They said: "No." He said: "Your companion did not reach much of what you think."
