Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:5927 حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ فَوَهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لَهُ فَصَمَتَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ بِهَا حَاجَةٌ فَزَوِّجْنِيهَا؟ فَقَالَ «أَلَكَ شَيْءٌ؟» قَالَ لَا وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «فَهَلْ تَقْرَأُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ شَيْئًا؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ مَاذَا؟ قَالَ سُورَةَ كَذَا وَسُورَةَ كَذَا فَقَالَ «قَدْ أَمْلَكْتُكَهَا بِمَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ» فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَمْضِي وَهِيَ تَتْبَعُهُ
English Translation
Sahl ibn Sa'd narrated that a woman came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and offered herself to him. He was silent. A man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, if you have no need of her, marry me to her." He said: "Do you have anything?" He said: "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Do you know anything of the Quran?" He said: "Yes." He said: "What?" He said: "Surah such-and-such and Surah such-and-such." He said: "I have given her to you in marriage for what you know of the Quran." And I saw him leaving with her following him.
