Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:5202 حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَا أَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَعَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْأَمَةِ إِذَا زَنَتْ وَلَمْ تُحْصَنْ؟ فَقَالَ «إِذَا زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا ثُمَّ إِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا ثُمَّ إِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا ثُمَّ بِيعُوهَا وَلَوْ بِضَفِيرٍ» قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ «وَلَا أَدْرِي بَعْدَ الثَّالِثَةِ أَوِ الرَّابِعَةِ وَالضَّفِيرُ هُوَ الْحَبْلُ»
English Translation
Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani said: I prayed the morning prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) at Hudaybiyah, and it had rained during the night. When the Messenger of Allah finished, he turned to face the people and said: "Do you know what your Lord said?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "He said: 'Some of My servants have become believers in Me and some have become disbelievers. As for the one who said: We received rain by the grace of Allah and His mercy — he is a believer in Me and a disbeliever in the stars. And as for the one who said: We received rain because of such-and-such star — he is a disbeliever in Me and a believer in the stars.'"
