Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:4319 حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ ثنا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْكَلْبِيُّ ثنا زُهَيْرٌ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْحُرِّ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُكْرِي أَرْضَهُ حَتَّى لَقِيَهُ رَافِعٌ فَأَخْبَرَهُ «بِنَهْيِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ» قَالَ نَافِعٌ وَأَنَا مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ حِينَ سَأَلَ رَافِعًا
English Translation
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent us on a military expedition. We stopped, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) called Rafi' ibn al-Mu'alla and said: "How about I teach you the greatest surah in the Quran before you leave the mosque?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, did you not say you would teach me the greatest surah in the Quran?" He said: "Al-Hamdu li-Llahi Rabbil-'Alamin (Surah al-Fatihah) — it is the Seven Oft-Repeated (Verses) and the Great Quran that I have been given."
